The Osprey nest has become a little emptier.

Health Science Junior Allison Bushey was killed in a car accident in the early morning hours of March 6.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO), Bushey was with her boyfriend and another passenger when their BMW was hit by another car and crashed into a tree on Jacksonville’s Northside. The BMW became engulfed in flames as a result. The accident happened around 2 a.m. on Duval Station Road, just west of N. Main Street near the CVS.

According to JSO, all three passengers died as a result of the crash.

The other vehicle, a newer model silver car, fled the scene after the accident. JSO said the car should have damage to its driver’s-side front end.

Anyone with information on the crash or the driver of the silver car can contact JSO at (904) 630-0500. Anonymous tips can be placed with Crime Stoppers at (866) 845-8477.

Another student, Sports Management Junior Elliott McArthur, passed away un-relatedly over the weekend. McArthur’s father notified the University via phone. At this time, there is no additional information.
