Bucs vs. Jaguars Recap


Another preseason game in the books and another loss for the Jaguars. Despite the Buccaneers pulling out a 27-21 victory, the Jags once again came out strong and quick as starters dominated.

The first team offense played the game's opening three drives, scoring touchdowns on two. Quarterback Blake Bortles threw 8/11 for 85 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Bortles also avoided being sacked.

Receiver Allen Hurns and running back T.J. Yeldon were the targets on Bortles' touchdown passes. Receiver Allen Robinson continued to shine with four catches for 34 yards.

Yeldon also picked up 15 rushing yards on two carries and Chris Ivroy ran for 25 yards on six carries.

The first team defense held Bucs starting quarterback Jameis Winston to 3/10 passing for 28 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

The Jaguars offense came to a near halt after starters left the field. Backup QB Chad Henne threw 4/10 for 33 yards and two interceptions. Backups Max Wittek and Brandon Allen combined to throw 1/11 for 20 yards and two interceptions.

Penalties once again plagued the night for the Jags, getting called 13 times for 121 yards.

Noteworthy:

- First year cornerback Josh Johnson ran an interception 79 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

- Jalen Ramsey made his debut, recording three tackles, one for a six-yard loss.

- Kelvin Beachum, left tackle, did not play due to injury.

- Tashaun Gipson made his Jaguars debut recording one tackle.
