Where the Jags Stand: Offense

Score quick — a major goal for the Jaguars offense going into this season. Through two preseason games, we've seen just that.

The starting offense has played five drives so far this preseason. During that time they've scored three touchdowns and one field goal, racked-up 209 yards, converted 12 first downs and had zero turnovers.

Quarterback Blake Bortles has thrown 14/18 (78%) for 190 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Running back Chris Ivory has run for 51 yards on 12 carries and scored one touchdown. RB T.J. Yeldon has six carries for 41 yards and a receiving touchdown. Receiver Allen Robinson has caught seven passes for 114 yards.

Once the starters leave the field, the Jaguars face problems.

The team's three backup QBs — Chad Henne, Brandon Allen, Max Wittek — have combined to throw 23/49 (47%) for 285 yards, zero touchdowns and five interceptions.

Second and third team running backs have also struggled. Denard Robinson has picked up 36 yards on 10 carries, Joe Banyard has run for 18 yards on six carries and Corey Grant has run 18 yards on eight carries.

While the starters are starters for a reason, a team prone to injuries needs to be mindful of developing its depth chart. An injury to any offensive starter could spell disaster for the Jaguars.
